About Tony Castro For College Board
My Very First Job Ever "Ed Dickens Union 76 Gas Station"
I worked at Collins Auto Care, in the city of Orange, for my R.O.P. internship, when I was 14 years old. I couldn't wait to get my school counselor to sign my work permit once I would turn 15. I remember when Ruben, the owner of Collins Auto Care, told me he got me a job as soon as I got my work permit signed. On the day of my 15th birthday, I got my work permit signed by a school counselor and went straight to work. My first day of work was on my birthday. I started working at Ed Dickens Union 76 gas station. I would show up every day after school and clock in. This was a pump first gas station. This means people would pump their gas first then pay. I worked every weekend, including Friday and Saturday. I missed every football game for years because I was too busy working. Since I had graduated from R.O.P. in the Automotive Repair field. I got a chance to perform oil changes and brake jobs at the 76-gas station where I worked. Eventually I became a mechanic at the same job location. Worked at this job through high school until the owner sold the property. I was such a good employee, my boss, Mr. Dickens, ask me to find him more people like me to hire. I ended up getting some of my friends and family members hired. I then continued my automotive career at Cypress College in 2003. I attended the (T-TEN) program. Toyota Technical Education Network and got hired by North County Toyota.
"Dollar Democracy On Steroids" by Professor Peter Mathews
I am mentioned many times in a book used as a college reader. My research on climate change can be found on chapter one of "Dollar Democracy On Steroids" by Professor Peter Mathews. More about my personal educational experiences can be found in chapter three page seventy-three. I completely agree with everything the author has to say. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to better understand my political philosophy. Full title of the book is: "Dollar Democracy On Steroids, with Liberty and Justice for Some; How to Reclaim the Middle-Class Dream for All" by Peter Mathews.
A film I would recommend is "Where to Invade Next" by Michael Moore. This can help people understand my beliefs on comparative politics. I would like to highlight two parts of the film. The first part is about school lunches provided to children. Schools in other countries are serving the healthiest options available to their students. When the United States only cares about budget cuts and feeding our students whatever costs the least amount of money. The Second part of the film I would like to highlight is about prison systems in different countries. Other countries focus on rehabilitation and human rights. When the United States prison system focuses on revenge and violating our 8th amendment right, cruel and unusual punishment.
